After losing part of my family during the pandemic, I created a project – a performative installation, which I see as a collective ritual of processing mourning and accepting death as part of our existence. The installation is built around the idea that EVERY DEATH IS A DOOR and is an instigation to look for the meaning of life in death. Unlike traditional rituals, the one I propose in this performative installation is open, without rules and fixed points, and above all without judgments. It’s a ritual that everyone can personalize.

This project is an invitation to dialogue: about those who died, but also about ourselves, those who stayed with the pain. It is a space – both physical and virtual – in which to meet and from which to emerge together stronger and, perhaps, better prepared to continue our lives.

By contributing to this project you are contributing to an important and difficult conversation, a conversation that is vital to have because it can be healing.

What is this performative installation? There will be a series of performances, each with a maximum of 15 participants. The participants will pass through two rooms: one where we honor our dead and allow ourselves to face this seemingly terrifying experience, and one where we let hope be (re)born, where we learn to look at death differently, as a door open to life. I propose some rituals reinterpreted in an artistic key, which will give us the opportunity to talk about death, so that you can live our lives more freely. All that I promise you is that it will be a safe space where maybe we’ll cry, maybe we’ll laugh, maybe we’ll hug, but we’ll definitely talk about the people we have lost and the future.
